Can I Use Used Hearing Aids - Used Hearing Aids For Sale - Where Can I sell my Used Hearing Aids!and where can I sell my used hearing aids - All in One Answer 1. Can you use used hearing aids......there is long and short answer.....that really depends. First we need to ask, Are they programmable or non programmable?
If they are non programmable...that means they are really non prescription or just Personal Sound Amplifiers or Assisted Listening Devices. They are still digital, most aids today are...but they are not going to be very strong. Non prescription or just Personal Sound Amplifiers or Assisted Listening Devices are regulated by the FDA as to maximum limit of volume or gain they can offer - Non prescription or just Personal Sound Amplifiers or Assisted Listening Devices are designed for folks with Mild to just a bit moderate hearing loss.
If they are programmable...this is going to require a few more steps. Lets say you go to ebay - lots of people sell used hearing aids on ebay. Lets say you are searching for one of the big brand names like, Siemens or Oticon or Resound or Phonak or Starkey - there are lots of Used Big Brand names on ebay. In fact, I think this is the only place you can really find this large of a selection of used hearing aids.
OK, lets say you choose a Starkey 3 series i70 BTE 312 Hearing Aid with Warranty for $450...that is $1000 less than retail.. Then what? Will this work for you?
Most likely not...because its programmed for the previous owner. Using a Used hearing aid, programmed for previous owner could damage your ear...or it could not be strong enough at all...acting more like ear plugs. What do can you do next?
There is only three ways using a used hearing aid is going to work for you:
A. The person who you buy the used hearing aid from - can reprogram the hearing aid. That means they are most likely a Dispenser, reseller, or audiologist. They have the fitting software the cables, the programming box. But remember, you need to send them your audiogram or hearing test to them. There is one more caution here - if they say they can - how will you ever know they can program? My advice here is to checkout who is selling it. Make sure they are indeed a Dispenser, reseller, or audiologist.
B. You already own Starkeys fitting software and the eminitech $399 or Hi Pro box ($400 to ($600) and Starkey's fitting cables, where you can program at home. Its going to be nearly impossible to get the fitting software. There are some manufacturers that put it on there site for free download. But most do not - and if they do, the online form is going to ask you to send in all your contact information and then you most likely have some Starkey sales agent call you ---Thinking you are an audiologist. And good luck getting the cables - I think you can only get those from Starkey Account Representatives. The good news is you can buy the Hi Pro box on ebay.
C. You can find some local Starkey dealer willing to reprogram a used hearing aid. Since you did not originally purchase the hearing aid from the Audiologist, you are going to have to pay them. That could run $100 to $500. $100 is still worth it but if they charge you $500...that you are getting close to New Price...without warranty. If you find a local audiologist that will do it for free, God Bless them...you have a friend.
Can I Use Used Hearing Aids - sure...but make sure you know what you are getting into.
2. Used Hearing Aids For Sale - and 3. where can I sell my used hearing - I can answer both of these with same answer...www.ebay.com That is it - Amazon nope - they do not allow hearing aid sales. PSAPs and Assisted Listening Devices but no hearing aids. Sears....nope - looks like they are going out of business. Your best chance to buy Used hearing aids and sell used hearing aids is ebay. Ebay has largest platform, most users, and listing stays up.
